2017 Monthly Membership Meetings
We had some great meetings in 2017 with lots of interesting topics as well as locations. We wanted to write a brief summary of our meetings to recap our 2017 year!
January- We met at Cook Children's Medical Center and introduced our 2017 Board and said goodbye to our 2016 Board. We also brainstormed ideas of what we would like to see in the 2017 year.
February- We met at a Volunteers of America partner building and we discussed volunteer appreciation strategies. We gathered in small groups so that our members could discuss and learn what volunteer appreciation strategies would work for their organizations.
March- We met at the Alzheimer's Association and our speakers Sherri Moody (from Volunteers of America) and Jeronimo Olmeda (from VolunteerNow) talked to us about volunteer on-boarding and HR protocol
April- We met at the Fort Worth Library and our speaker was with The Mission Continues spoke to us about how his organization helps veterans find their purpose when they come home and how to utilize their organization to help us.
May- Was an exciting meeting, we met at the Fort Worth Zoo for the first time and heard presentations from our scholarship recipients from the Texas Volunteer Management Conference. We also got a personal tour of the zoo and heard about the new expansions.
June- We met at Cornerstone Assistance Network and we had our speed networking, where we got to get more personal with our members and ask more one on one questions to each other.
July- We met at Meals On Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County and had a panel of members from faith based organizations to answer our questions about how to work with the faith based community. Our speakers were Dr. Andy Mangum with First Christian Church in Arlington, Janae Baird with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and JustServe, and Bishop Kevin Dickerson with Dayspring Family Church.
August- We met at Trinity Habitat for Humanity and our presenter Brandon Hurtado spoke to us about social media and how to use it to our advantage.
October- We met at Gladney Center for Adoption and we had a panel of volunteer speak to us about their experiences, good and bad, to help us grow as Volunteer Managers.
November- Was our last meeting of the year and per tradition TCU hosted us. Our speaker was Judge Brent A. Carr and he spoke to us about the wonderful work he does in the community and how he works with local nonprofits.
